This is dictated from Camp 2 at 6400 Meters.
We came up through the Icefall during the night as planned. Three of us made it to Camp 1 at 6100 Meters by the 7am deadline, but in the end 5 of the 14 in Team 1 made it to Camp 2 at 6400 Meters, arriving mid-morning. Camp 2 is pitched directly beneath the SW Face of Everest which looms large above us, an amazing place. The rest of the team arrived this morning from Camp 1 and the plan is to rest today and tomorrow and to move to Camp 3 at 7400 Meters, where we will spend a night.
The route from Camp 1 to Camp 2 was over the undulating Western Cwm, known as Heartbreak Hill, which it certainly was as the time we reached the end it was in the full glare of 90 degree F sun.
Will send another Update when more is known. I must also turn my Bluetooth GPS link on to aid tracking on the website.
